Saint Mary’s defeats Gonzaga in 12 innings in West Coast Conference baseball

MORAGA, California – Brett Rasso doubled home the winning run with two outs in the 12th inning Saturday and the Saint Mary’s Gaels (15-10, 5-4) edged the Gonzaga Bulldogs 2-1 to win a West Coast Conference baseball series 2-1.

GU’s Mac Lardner allowed four hits and one earned run in 7 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking three.

The Zags (13-12, 4-5) took a 1-0 lead in the first on Jake Vieth’s sacrifice fly. Ernie Yake, who led off the game with a single and stole second base, scored on the sac fly.
