Deputies looking for woman accused of burglarizing home while owners were in backyard

Spokane Valley detectives are asking for the public’s help locating a woman accused of burglarizing a home while the owners were outside in the backyard.

Deputies say the brazen thief walked into a home in the 14900 block of East Broadway Avenue in Spokane Valley at about 11 a.m. April 22, and told a child watching TV that she was there to babysit, according to a police news release. The child said she came out of his parents’ bedroom holding his mother’s purse, so he ran out the back door to call for his mom and dad.

The couple saw the woman getting into the back seat of an older white four-door car, possibly a Mazda, and drive east, the news release said.

There were also two males in the vehicle. The driver was white, in his 20s, with red hair and a beard. The passenger was described as a white, heavy-set male in his 20s, with dark hair.

The woman was later taped on a store surveillance video attempting to use the victim’s stolen credit cards. Deputies said she tried to use the cards at multiple locations.

Anyone with information is asked to called Spokane Valley Detective Jeff Thurman at (509) 477-3278 with reference number 10052570.
