Prep baseball playoffs: Cam Liss helps Ferris advance in 4A baseball

Cam Liss finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs, including a home run and a double, and tossed four solid innings with six strikeouts and seventh-seeded Ferris (14-10) eliminated visiting eighth-seeded Walla Walla (11-13) 9-6 in a District 8 4A loser-out baseball game on Thursday.

Eric Mast added three hits and Brock Bozett drove in a pair for Ferris. The Saxons put up eight in the third inning as held on as Walla Walla rallied for five in the fifth.

Ferris faces Richland in the district third-place game on Saturday at 11 am at Avista Stadium.

Richland 10, Central Valley 0: Caleb Richter pitched five shutout innings and the second-seeded Bombers (13-10) blanked the visiting fifth-seeded Bears (15-8) in a District 8 4A loser-out game. Kyle Corrigan, Drew Daves and Gavin March drove in two runs apiece for the Bombers.

Post Falls 3, Coeur d’Alene 2 (11): Nate Buer scored on a single by Matt Vasquez in the 11th and the second-seeded Trojans (13-12) eliminated the visiting third-seeded Vikings (15-10) in the Idaho 5A District 1-2 loser-out game. Post Falls moves to a state play-in game against District 3 fifth-place Borah on Saturday at Lewiston HS at 1 p.m. Buer tripled in a run in the bottom of the seventh to make it 2-2 to force extra innings.

Bonners Ferry 5, Timberlake 0: Will Parr pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks on 85 pitches and hit a two-run single in the bottom of second and the top-seeded Badgers (14-5) beat the visiting second-seeded Tigers (13-7) in the Idaho 3A District 1 championship game. Brady Bateman went 2 for 4 with a double, triple, and run scored. Jared Fess hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth to seal the game.
