CMR an AstroTurf candidate

This is in response to the Letter to the Editor from May 1 titled “CMR a grassroots candidate.”

I’d like to ask which political race they are watching.

According to the one I’m watching, Lisa Brown has raised $649,245 this year. Cathy McMorris Rodgers has raised $776,532 this year. Brown received $589,477 from individual donors. McMorris Rodgers only received $324,555 from individual donors. Where did the rest come from?

More significantly, Brown had 4,414 individual donors. McMorris Rodgers had 614 individual donors.

Brown is not accepting any contributions from corporate PACs. House Speaker Paul Ryan opened up an office for his PAC in our own town just to run ads and hire staff to help Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

Brown is our grassroots candidate. McMorris Rodgers and Paul Ryan are laying AstroTurf.
