Republican ACA ‘reforms’

Like most partisans critical of the Affordable Care Act, Sue Lani Madsen, overlooks some things (“Familiar rub blocks bipartisan health care fix,” Nov. 4).

Republican attempted “reforms” were often not-so-subtle attempts at sabotage. It seems to me the major event that prevented the Affordable Care Act from fully achieving its purpose was the cancelling of a temporary government subsidy. Less than two years after the passage of the event, Marco Rubio inserted an amendment into a totally unrelated bill that killed that subsidy. Thus, higher premiums, less choices.
