Hunter killed in Nez Perce County in accidental shooting

A North Idaho man was killed Saturday near Soldiers Meadow Lake from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to a news release from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan S. Rigney was hunting in the area when at around 7:30 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the lake on reports of an accidental gun wound. Rigney was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies are continuing to investigate.
