Hope from strangers

I don’t know who they are. They only told me their first names. But five big, strong fellows showed up at my door and informed me that they knew I needed a strong ramp and larger porch since I was immobile and needed wheels to get around.

I told them I didn’t call them and had no materials. They said they had the building materials and were going to build it for me at absolutely no charge. They said they were helping to make the country a more caring place and they were doing their bit to make the world kinder.

I was overwhelmed with emotion.

They worked for eight hours on Saturday without resting and turned down my offer for hamburgers and a beverage.

I’m writing this to thank these five strangers and tell them how much they’ve given me hope for a future, kinder, world.
