Gregoire the wrong choice

As if there weren’t already enough reasons to reject the sale of Avista to Canadian company Hydro One, now we learn that if the sale goes through, Christine Gregoire will sit on Avista’s board of directors (“Gregoire chosen for Avista post-sale board of directors,” Nov. 7, 2018). The former governor is a career politician with absolutely no business experience - just exactly the type of person who should not be on the utility’s board.

She stole the governor’s election in 2004 after King County mysteriously found enough votes to put her over the top in the second recount, only after every other county in the state had reported their vote totals so King County would know exactly how many votes needed to be “manufactured.”

As attorney general she did little or nothing to shut down fraudulent diploma mills, and so badly managed the office that she failed to file a timely appeal of a $17.8 million judgment against the state, the largest judgment ever at the time.

Frankly, I trust the Canadian company to manage Avista more than I trust Gregoire, but neither should be allowed any control or influence whatsoever over Avista.
