Many local organizations offering free Thanksgiving meals next week

Many Spokane organizations will be providing Thanksgiving meals on the holiday, or the day before. Below is a list of five that are hosting free meals next week.

The City Gate

Where: 170 S. Madison St.

What: A community dinner will be served on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations or preregistration is not required.

Mid-City Concerns

Where: 1222 W. Second Ave.

What: A Thanksgiving dinner will be served on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for seniors and those in need only, according to the organization.

Salvation Army

Where: 222 E. Indiana Ave.

What: Thanksgiving turkey dinner will be offered on Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. in the Salvation Army multipurpose room.

Union Gospel Mission

Where: 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

What: A community dinner will be served on Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center. The entrance is through doors in the breezeway between the INB Performing Arts Center and the convention center.

Greater Spokane County Meals on Wheels

The organization will serve a turkey dinner at all 12 Silver Cafes on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the exception of the Silver Cafe at Hillyard Senior Center, which begins lunch at 11:45 a.m.

Meals on Wheels will deliver Thanksgiving dinners with turkey and potatoes on Thursday to residents signed up for the home delivery service. Residents wishing to be included in the meal delivery service are encouraged to call the organization at (509) 924-6976.

Shalom Ministries

Shalom Ministries’ Dining With Dignity program will serve a Thanksgiving meal, including turkey with all the fixings, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. The event will be held at the New Community church at 518 W 3rd Ave. Attendees are asked to enter on Howard just North of 3rd Avenue. Organizers can be reached at 509-455-9019.
