Body recovered Friday morning from the Spokane River near Peaceful Valley

A boater discovered a body Friday morning in the Spokane River.

Assistant Fire Chief Mark John, spokesman for the Spokane Fire Department, said rescue crews received the call to recover the deceased person at about 9:45 a.m. By 1 p.m., the remains were recovered with the help of Spokane police officers.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner will release cause and manner of death, in addition to the identity of the deceased.
