Head-on crash near Medical Lake injures five, including mother and three daughters

A Medical Lake woman and her three young daughters survived after another driver veered into their lane and caused a crash late Saturday on state Highway 902, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The WSP said Amber M. Hall, 35, and three girls were traveling west in their Kia Sedona minivan when a Honda Accord, driven by 59-year-old Eric L. Thompson, struck them shortly before 10 p.m. just east of Medical Lake.

Both vehicles were totaled, and all five people were injured and taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. They had all been wearing seat belts.

The WSP said the crash remained under investigation Monday afternoon and no charges had been filed. It said neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash.

A hospital spokeswoman said Thompson remained there Monday, but his condition was not immediately available.

Hall declined an interview Monday, but she gave The Spokesman-Review permission to publish a photo of her wrecked minivan that she had posted on Facebook. In a public post, she wrote that she and her daughters had been traveling home from an event at their church when the other car swerved into their lane and hit them “head-on.”

“The night had been so exciting and inspiring and I felt so blessed to share it with my girls … the next moment was filled with chaos and terror as we woke to airbags and shattered glass,” she wrote. “We will be ok. We are healing. I completely credit my wonderful Savior for protecting us from what should have been much worse.”
