Colin Powell, who served as the 65th secretary of state under George W. Bush, will speak at the Spokane Convention Center on Friday. The event is sold out, according to the convention center’s website.

The four-star, retired U.S. Army general was also a national security adviser under Ronald Reagan and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

He will speak from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

Whitworth University is hosting Powell as part of its President’s Leadership Forum, which brings speakers to Spokane who bring new ideas and perspectives. Powell will attend a closed meeting at the university Friday.
