Police responded to reports of two gunshots at Audubon Park about 7 p.m. Wednesday, but no injuries were reported. There were children and adults in the park at the time, according to a police news release.

Shortly after, police saw a man who matched witness descriptions. After a brief foot chase, police arrested 18-year-old Masijah M. Daniels, according the news release.

Officers found a gun in the playground equipment in the park. They also found a magazine and ammo in Daniels’ backpack, which he threw away during the foot chase.

Police booked Daniels into Spokane County Jail on charges of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, obstruction of an officer and three counts of reckless endangerment, police said.
