Prep morning roundup: Mt. Spokane earns second seed in GSL district slowpitch tournament

Softball

Mt. Spokane 7, Lewis and Clark 5: Ashton Cathey went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and the Wildcats (16-4) defeated the visiting Tigers (11-9) on Tuesday to earn the No. 2 seed and first-round bye at the GSL district tournament, edging out Mead which finished 15-5.

University 8, Central Valley 7: Brooklyn Hecker had three hits and Lily Allen scored two runs as the visiting Titans (20-0) preserved their perfect regular-season record and defeated the Bears (11-9) under the lights at CV’s Fall Ball Brawl.

Volleyball

Mead def. Central Valley (25-23, 25-16, 25-23): Allie Flynn had 49 assists and the Panthers (6-2) swept the visiting Bears (3-5). Nicole Bantilan added 15 kills while Katherine McEuen had 18 digs.

Mt. Spokane def. Shadle Park (25-6, 25-8, 25-11): Malina Ama recorded eight kills and the first-place Wildcats (8-0) swept the visiting Highlanders (0-8) to stay undefeated in Greater Spokane League play on Tuesday.

Soccer

East Valley 3, Pullman 0: Chloe Gellhaus scored two goals and the Knights (9-1-0-0) defeated the visiting Greyhounds (0-11-0-1) to clinch the Great Northern League regular-season title on Tuesday. The Knights will host the District 7 2A tournament title game on Oct. 30.

Deer Park 3, Freeman 1: Jessie Thomas scored two goals and Emmy Moore had two assists as the Stags (11-0-0-0) defeated the visiting Scotties (7-4-0-0) to clinch the Northeast A League regular-season title. Deer Park will host a second-round game in the NEA tourney on Oct. 25.
