Dangers of ‘safe storage’ laws

First, remind yourself that some of the big-money contributors behind this likely unconstitutional nonsense have 24/7 armed security, of which they would gladly deprive you!

Then, consider this scenario:

A rural couple is semi-retired, raising goats and free-range chickens. They keep a 12-gauge shotgun by the door for coyotes. They keep a 9 mm Glock by the bedside for protection from human coyotes. They leave their locked house for two hours. Returning, they find their home has been burglarized. Stolen items include the shotgun and pistol.

A person with 19 prior felony convictions (think an Eddie Ray Hall clone) was arrested for robbing a convenience store. The clerk was shot with the stolen Glock! The homeowner is charged with a felony that carries a fine of up to $10,000!

Let’s recap: Our justice system has allowed this lowlife to continue to walk free in spite of 19 prior felonies. Our homeowner failed to provide trigger locks, or ‘safe’ storage, making the guns useless for their intended lawful purpose. Now he becomes a felon, faces a huge fine, and is no longer allowed to possess firearms!

Sounds fair to me, how about you? Vote no on I-1639!
