Prep slowpitch: Mt. Spokane tops University in state championship game

Linzee Thompson had three hits with two RBIs and Mt. Spokane () defeated University () 10-4 in the WIAA State slowpitch tournament championship at Columbia Playfield in Richland.

Alyssa Benthagen led U-Hi with three hits.

Mt. Spokane beat Lake Washington 18-0 in a first-round game and topped Central Valley 4-3 in a semifinal.

University beat R.A. Long 6-5 in the first round and handled Camas 12-2 in a semifinal.

Central Valley 4, Moses Lake 2: Madison McVey delivered a double in a three-run seventh inning and the Bears (16-11) beat the Chiefs (18-2) for third place in the WIAA state third-place game.

Central Valley topped R.A. Long 14-6 in a loser-out to reach the third-place game.

University topped R.A. Long 6-5 in a first-round game.
