Prep volleyball: Pullman and East Valley advance to GNL/CWAC crossover

Pullman beat East Valley in straight sets in the District 7 2A championship on Saturday.

Both teams qualify for a crossover game on Nov. 3 against Central Washington Athletic Conference teams.

East Valley 3, Cheney 1: The Knights eliminated the Blackhawks in four sets (25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21) in the district semifinal.

District 7 1A

Freeman 3, Lakeside (WA) 2: Eva Knight had 14 kills and the Scotties (12-1) topped the visiting Eagles (11-2) in five sets to win the district championship and secure a spot in the 1A state tournament on Nov. 9-10 at the Yakima Valley SunDome. Lakeside qualifies for a crossover game against a Caribou Trail League team on Nov. 3

Colville 3, Medical Lake 0: …and the Indians () topped the Cardinals () in straight sets in the District 7 1A third-place game at Freeman HS. Colville advances to a crossover game against Chelan on Nov. 3.

Idaho

Skyview 3, Lake City 2: The Timberwolves won the first two sets but fell to the Hawks in five (19-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-6) in a loser’s bracket state semifinal and settled for third place in the tourney at Ridgevue HS in Nampa.

In its early match, eventual state champion Madison beat Lake City in straight sets (26-24, 25-21, 25-17), dropping the T-Wolves into a loser-out match in the double-elimination tournament.

Northeast 1B

Selkirk 3, Republic 0: Jenna Couch had 31 assists and the Rangers (13-1) defeated the visiting Tigers (2-5) in straight sets (25-12, 25-15, 25-18). Selkirk won the North Division title.

Earlier, Whitney Dawson had 11 kills with six aces and the Rangers (12-1) beat Curlew (2-7) in straight sets (25-10, 25-10, 25-3).

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Valley Christian 0: Christa Christopherson dished out 19 assists with five aces and the visiting Warriors (12-0) defeated the Panthers (7-4) to seal the South Division title.
