Fishing rules on West Medical lake have changed in anticipation of a lake-wide purge to curb an out-of-control goldfish population.

There will be no daily catch limit for trout through Oct. 7, according to a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife news release.

WDFW plans to treat the lake with piscine rotenone to kill the goldfish.

All other species must be returned to the lake. The lake will close to all fishing on Oct. 8 until further notice.
