Anna Rose Wiencek’s first goal of the season lifted Idaho (2-3-0) to a 1-0 soccer victory over Vermont (0-4-1) at the Montana Invitational in Missoula on Sunday.
Makayla Presgrave made two saves in posting the shutout. Hadley Sbrega sent a cross into front of the goal which Wiencek headed into the net in the 43rd minute.
Cerritos of California scored all four of its goals in the first half and the Falcons (2-0-0) defeated CC Spokane in Ravensdale, Washington.
Peninsula (2-2-0) scored the match’s first two goals then held off North Idaho in nonconference play at Port Angeles, Washington.
Cidney Bauwens scored in the 80th minute for the Cardinals (0-2-2), a 40-yard shot that the goalkeeper tipped into the crossbar but still found the goal on a bounce.
A goal in the 74th minute gave Peninsula (1-2-) a 1-0 victory over North Idaho (0-4-0) in Port Angeles, Washington.
Kaela Straw had 16 kills on .577 hitting and Idaho (4-2) swept North Texas (3-4) by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-22 at the Pepperdine/Cal State Northridge Invitational in Malibu, California.
Reece Carman added 10 kills and Alycia Wodke 10 digs.
