Driving us nuts

Now, this is nuts. The 26-foot-long Planters NUTmobile is in town until Monday.

Fans are invited to meet Mr. Peanut, play games to win cashews or mixed nuts, and sample peanuts.

Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the peanut-shaped vehicle and its crew will be at the Fred Meyer store at 12120 N. Division St.

Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the NUTmobile will be at the Spokane County Interstate Fair at 404 N. Havana St.

This particular crew of Peanutters has driven from Wisconsin to Seattle since June. The vehicle itself weighs 13 thousand pounds, or the equivalent of 3 million peanuts. The ridges you can see on the outside of the NUTmobile are actually constructed out of pool noodles and covered in fiberglass.
