Friends of Manito to hold annual fall plant sale Saturday

The Friends of Manito will offer a large assortment of plants at its annual fall sale Saturday.

The stock will include drought- and deer-resistant plants; cultivars of strawberries, goji berries, grapes and asparagus; hummingbird and other pollinator-friendly plants; and shrubs, vines and grasses, a news release said. Volunteers will be available to answer gardening questions.

The Friends of Manito also has planned children’s activities, including bunnies and goats to pet.

The event will be set up from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in an area just east of the Gaiser Conservatory in Manito Park.

The proceeds from the sale will go toward the enhancement of Manito Park, the news release said. The nonprofit has contributed $800,000 over 25 years to park projects, it said.

For more information, call event coordinator Judy Nelson at (509) 456-8038 or go online to thefriendsofmanito.org.
