The Spokane Chiefs announced Thursday that they signed forward Connor Gabruch to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.

Gabruch, 17, was originally listed by the Chiefs in December 2016.

A 6-foot-3, 183-pounder from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Gabruch played last season with the Saskatoon Blazers of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, totaling 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 44 games. He also played one game with the Weyburn Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, scoring a goal.

Gabruch is expected to join the team on Friday. The Chiefs will play their fifth preseason game Saturday night at Tri-City.

“Connor stood out at our training camp last month as a player who had taken significant steps and proven that he is ready to be a WHL player,” Chiefs general manager Scott Carter said. “We’re very excited to officially welcome him to the organization and look forward to continuing his development.”
