Former Gonzaga teammates Kelly Olynyk and Kevin Pangos lead Canada past Brazil

Former Gonzaga teammates Kelly Olynyk and Kevin Pangos played key roles as Canada defeated Brazil 85-77 Thursday in a FIBA World Cup Americas qualifier at Place Bell in Quebec.

Olynyk finished with 20 points, 19 rebounds, four steals and three assists. The Miami Heat forward made 7 of 16 shots, including 3 of 8 3-pointers.

Pangos knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and added 10 points. He led the Canadians with eight assists and had just two turnovers in 32-plus minutes. He’s playing for FC Barcelona this season.

Canada faces Chile on Monday in Chile.
