Women’s soccer: Kayla Watanabe’s overtime goal lifts Idaho past Seattle University

SEATTLE – Kayla Watanabe’s header goal in overtime Thursday completed Idaho’s comeback during a 3-2 nonconference women’s soccer victory over Seattle University.

The Vandals (3-4-1) trailed 2-1 when Kelly Dopke headed in her first goal of the season with 4 minutes, 28 seconds left in regulation.

Just more than 2 minutes into OT, Watanabe headed in a deflected cross over traffic for her second goal of the season.

Idaho’s Kayleigh Frederick scored her first goal of the season in the 54th minute to tie the match at 1. The Redhawks (2-3-2) retook the lead a little less than 10 minutes later on Paige Malm’s first goal of the season.
