Prep softball: Makayla Marshall homers to help University edge Lewis and Clark

Greater Spokane League

University 3, Lewis and Clark 2: Makayla Marshall went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer and Tammya Campbell had 10 strikeouts in a complete game as the visiting Titans (2-0) edged the Tigers (0-2) at Hart Field. Kylie Pester struck out nine and hit a solo home run for LC.

Ferris 22, North Central 3: Courtney Miller had four hits, including a home run with four RBIs and the Saxons (1-1) beat the visiting Indians (0-2). Jordan Whitten added a homer for Ferris.

Mead 5, Central Valley 4: Outfielder Grace Sykora threw out a runner at the plate in the fifth inning and broke a tie with a solo home run in the sixth to lead the Panthers (1-1) past the visiting Bears (1-1). Tori Vetter added three hits and an RBI for Mead. Grace Stumbough led Central Valley with three hits.

Mt. Spokane 12, Gonzaga Prep 2: Morgan Flesland had three hits, including a home run, and the the Wildcats (2-0) beat the visiting Bullpups (1-1) on Thursday. Flesland tossed a complete game, allowing five hits. Ashton Cathey added a pair of hits, including a triple.

Shadle Park 12, Rogers 0: Chloe Flerchinger stuck out six over five no-hit innings and Carly Hainline had four RBIs as the Highlanders (2-0) beat the visiting Pirates (0-2) on Thursday. Megan Keenan hit a two-run home run for Shadle Park.

Great Northern League

West Valley 15, Clarkston 3: Kilee Amada went 3 for 3 with two home runs and the Eagles (2-0) beat the visiting Bantams (1-1) on Thursday.

Othello 18, Cheney 7: Ashley Garza went 2 for 3 and the Huskies (8-0) beat the visiting Blackhawks (1-6) on Thursday in a nonleague game.

Northeast A League

Colville 5, Freeman 0: Ambrie Jones allowed one hit with 15 strikeouts and the Indians (3-0) beat the visiting Scotties (1-1).

Lakeside (WA) 15, Deer Park 0: Olivia Charbonneau went 2 for 2 with a double and a triple and the Eagles (3-0) defeated the Stags (2-1).

Medical Lake 11, Newport 1: Allison Duncan had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs to lead the Cardinals (1-3) past the visiting Grizzlies (0-3). Hailee DeShazer scattered three hits and struck out five for Medical Lake.

Others

Kettle Falls 10, Inchelium 9: Kathryn Lawrence went 3 for 4 with a home run and the visiting Bulldogs (1-4) edged the Hornets (0-3) in the first game of a doubleheader. Rylee Desautel hit a double, triple and a home run for Inchelium with six RBIs.

Inchelium 6, Kettle Falls 4: Grace Kohler went 2 for 2 with a home run and the Hornets (1-3) beat the visiting Bulldogs (1-5) in the second game of a doubleheader.

Idaho

Chiawana 5, Post Falls 4: Morgan Hirai doubled in the winning run with two down in the bottom of the ninth and the Riverhawks edged the visiting Trojans (4-1) in the first game of a nonleague doubleheader on Thursday. Bailie Bunger doubled in Angela Sullivan in the previous at-bat to tie it.

Post Falls 12, Chiawana 6: Emma Aldrich went 3 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs and the visiting Trojans (5-1) topped the Riverhawks in the second game of a nonleague doubleheader on Thursday. McKenna Moak and Alyssa Krause each had two hits with an RBI and Bubba Gleaves knocked in two.

Lakeland 8, Timberlake 4: Harley See hit the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning and Tara Woolley went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs as the Hawks (3-8) beat the visiting Tigers (2-1) in a nonleague game.
