Coeur d’Alene tops Washington 5-2 in Little League Northwest Regional opener

SAN BERNADINO, Calif. – Coeur d’Alene used a five-run bottom of the second inning to cruise to a 5-2 victory over Washington on Monday in the first game of the Little League Northwest Regional.

Owen Mangini doubled to lead off the second for CdA. Zachary Bell drew a walk and Owen Miller singled to load the bases. Jayson Ross had an RBI single to get CdA on the scoreboard and it used four passed balls to score its final four runs.

Cason Miller took the win for Idaho. He lasted 4 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out seven. Kyle Johnson retired the final four Washington batters to earn the save.

Cayden Christopherson took the loss for Washington. He went 2/3 of an inning, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out one.

CdA advances to the semifinals against Oregon on Thursday. Oregon defeated Montana 8-7 on Monday night.
