Women’s basketball roundup: Japreece Dean sets UCLA free throw mark, Bruins beat Washington State
Michaela Onyenwere had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Japreece Dean set a UCLA record for consecutive free throws, and the Bruins beat Washington State 83-56 on Friday in Los Angeles.
Dean, who had 11 points, made all five of her free throws in the game and passed Michelle Greco’s record of 32 from the 2002-03 season. Dean finished the game at 37 consecutive free throws and counting.
Onyenwere had her ninth 20-point game of the season, Kennedy Burke added 18 points, and Lajahna Drummer had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bruins (12-9, 5-4 Pac-12).
Chanelle Molina had 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting for WSU (7-14, 2-8). Borislava Hristova added 12 points.
USC 82, Washington 57: Shalexxus Aaron had career-highs of 28 points and six 3-pointers and the Trojans (12-8, 2-7 Pac-12) used a big second half to roll past the Huskies (8-14, 1-9) in Los Angeles.
Aaron, a redshirt freshman, was 10-of-14 shooting. She scored nine points in the third quarter for USC.
Darcy Rees scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Huskies.
