Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins one of 10 candidates for Cousy Award

Gonzaga senior Josh Perkins is one of 10 candidates for the Bob Cousy Award, presented to the point guard of the year.

Perkins ranks sixth nationally with 154 assists. He averages 6.7 assists and his 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio paces the WCC. He’s third in program history with 632 assists. No. 1 Matt Santangelo finished with 668 and No. 2 Blake Stepp had 640.

The Zags are 122-17 in games Perkins has played in his five seasons.

Joining Perkins on the list, trimmed from 20 on the preseason list to 10, are LSU’s Tremont Waters, Marquette’s Markus Howard, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston, Murray State’s Ja Morant, Nevada’s Cody Martin, Purdue’s Carsen Edwards, Tennessee’s Jordan Bone, Virginia’s Ty Jerome and Virginia Tech’s Justin Robinson.

Villanova’s Jalen Brunson won the Cousy Award last season.
