Top seeds Deer Park boys, Medical Lake girls advance to 1A district title games

Jobi Gelder scored 17 points, Isaac Burglund added 15 and top-seeded Deer Park defeated fifth-seeded Medical Lake 67-51 in a District 7 1A boys basketball semifinal at West Valley HS.

The Stags (19-2), ranked No. 10 in state 1A by the WIAA RPI system, face No. 6 Newport in the district championship game on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Garren Garza led Medical Lake (8-14) with 15 points. The Cardinals face Lakeside in the district third-place game on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Newport 66, Lakeside 49: Danny Bradbury scored 23 points, Tiegan Prange added 17 and the second-seeded Grizzlies (18-2) beat the third-seeded Eagles (14-8).

Tug Smith added 11 points for Newport. Tristan Cox led Lakeside with 13 points.

Girls

District 7 1A

Medical Lake 46, Colville 40: Jaycee Oliver scored 11 points and the top-seeded, No. 9-ranked Cardinals (16-5) beat the fourth-seeded Indians (12-10) in a semifinal at West Valley HS.

Medical Lake faces Freeman in the district title game on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Colville takes on Deer Park in the third-place game at 3:30 p.m.

Katelynn Lewis led Colville with 10 points.

Freeman 48, Deer Park 37: Bradee Parisotto scored 14 points, Jordyn Goldsmith added 13 and the second-seeded, No. 11 Scotties (16-5) beat the third-seeded Stags (16-6).

Taylor Lyons led Deer Park with 13 points.

District 9 1B

Colton 66, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse 20: Dakota Patchen scored 19 points, Abby Kelly added 12 and the top-seeded Wildcats (18-2) defeated the fourth-seeded Eagles (10-11) in a first-round game at Colfax HS.

Colton plays Pomeroy in the district title game. SJEL faces Oakesdale in a loser-out game Wednesday.

Pomeroy 53, Oakesdale 39: Maddy Dixon scored 18 points, Sydney Smith added 14 and the second-seeded Pirates (17-2) beat the third-seeded Nighthawks (16-5).

Logan Reed led Oakesdale with 20 points.

Idaho

Lakeland 42, Moscow 34: Katy Ryan scored 13 points with eight rebounds and five blocks and the top-seeded Hawks (10-11) eliminated the third-seeded Bears (8-16) in the 4A District 1-2 Game 2 at North Idaho College. Lauren Cooper added 10 points for Lakeland.

Genesis Prep 56, Lakeside 46: Rachel Schroeder scored 25 points, Bella Murekatete added 20 and the third-seeded Jaguars (12-10) eliminated the top-seeded Knights (9-11) in the 1AD2 District 1 championship in Post Falls.

Jalissa Holt led Lakeside with 15 points.
