Idaho girls: Lake City, ranked No. 2 in state, falls in first round of 5A tournament

Meghan Boyd scored 22 points and Eagle (20-5) downed Lake City (20-4) 63-52 in an Idaho 5A State first-round game at Ford Idaho Center in Nampa on Thursday.

Lake City plays Rigby in a consolation-round game on Friday at 12:15 p.m.

Klaire Mitchell led Lake City with 18 points, Bridget Rieken had 13 and Brooklyn Rewers added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Eagle pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 24-16 run. Lake City went 9 of 19 from the line.

Caldwell 44, Lakeland 21: Jalen Callender scored 16 points and the Cougars (20-5) beat the Hawks (10-12) in a 4A State first-round game at Timberline HS in Boise.

Kayy Ryan led Lakeland with seven points.

Lakeland plays Hillcrest in a consolation-round game on Friday at 2 p.m.

Timberlake 49, Teton 26: Taryn Soumas scored 15 points, Brooke Jessen added 14 points with 14 rebounds and the Tigers (21-2) topped the Redskins (12-13) in a 3A State first-round game at Skyview HS in Nampa.

The Tigers placed third last season and have played in the state title game six times in seven seasons, winning in 2016 and ’17.

Timberlake faces Parma in a semifinal on Friday at 7 p.m.

Sugar-Salem 57, Bonners Ferry 31: Macie Knapp scored 18 points and the Diggers (22-2) topped the Badgers (17-7) in a 3A State first-round game at Skyview HS.

Holly Ansley led Bonners Ferry with 13 points.

Bonners Ferry plays Buhl in a consolation-round game on Friday at 12:15 p.m.

Nezperce 46, Genesis Prep 42: Sydney Boyer scored 19 points with eight rebounds and the Indians (22-3) beat the Jaguars (12-11) in a 1A D2 State first-round game at Nampa HS.

Genesis Prep faces Rockland in a consolation-round game today on Friday at 7 p.m.

Bella Murekatete, bound for Washington State next year, led Genesis Prep with 20 points, 17 rebounds and six blocked shots before fouling out.

Rachel Schroeder added 15 points with six assists for the Jaguars.
