A troubling trend

As we continue to see the Democratic Party unabashedly espousing socialism, let’s re-educate ourselves on what it really means. The Webster definition is “a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.” Who would that “community” be, exactly? Government and academic elites in New York, California and Washington? Should we entrust our health care, manufacturing, research, free speech and way of life to them? Do they really know better than us on how to live our lives?

We are and have been a capitalistic society that, for all its faults, has given us enormous lifestyle changes for the better … affordable and abundant energy, food, transportation and communication. Are you willing to jeopardize this for intrusive government management and wealth redistribution?

This trend is deeply troubling. If you like your lifestyle and retaining the fruits of your labors, remember what got you these things. It isn’t socialism. It’s a society that embraces freedom of action, thought and speech, and rewards hard work, exceptionalism and creativity.

Remember this in the next elections.
