Idaho boys: Kellogg, Timberlake advance to 3A championship game

Gavin Luna scored 20 points with 12 rebounds and Kellogg beat Bonners Ferry 64-44 in an Idaho 3A District 1 first-round game at Timberlake HS in Spirit Lake on Wednesday.

Kellogg (8-13) plays Timberlake in the district title game at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Bonners Ferry (9-11) faces Priest River in a loser-out game at 5:30 p.m.

Graden Nearing added 14 points, all in the first half, and Brennan Atkins had 13.

Seth Bateman led Bonners Ferry with 12 points.

Timberlake 58, Priest River 26: The Tigers (8-13) beat the visiting Spartans (1-18) in a 3A District 1 first-round game.

Lakeside 63, Kootenai 55: The Knights (13-6) eliminated the Warriors (9-9) in a 1AD2 District 1 first-round game at the Real Life Campus in Post Falls. Lakeside faces Genesis Prep in the title game on Friday at 6 p.m.

Genesis Prep 2, Mullan 0: The Jaguars (13-8) advanced to the 1AD2 District 1 title game after Mullan (7-11) had to forfeit the first-round game at Real Life Campus in Post Falls due to a shortage of players.

Lake City at Lewiston (ppd.): The 5A District 1-2 loser-out game was postponed by winter weather. The game was rescheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m.

The winner faces Coeur d’Alene on Friday in a loser-out game. The winner will play on Saturday in a state play-in game at Grangeville HS.
