Chiefs clinch playoff spot behind Jaret Anderson-Dolan’s five-point night

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Jaret Anderson-Dolan scored twice and assisted on three goals Wednesday as the Spokane Chiefs clinched a spot in the Western Hockey League playoffs, riding a four-goal first period to a 7-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars at the CN Centre.

Anderson-Dolan has 12 goals and 19 assists this season. Luke Toporowski scored his 18th goal just 18 seconds in, and Bobby Russell, Connor Gabruch and Nolan Reid added first-period goals. Both of Anderson-Dolan’s goals were assisted by Luc Smith and Ty Smith; Luc Smith finished the scoring with 29 seconds left in the third period. Bailey Brkin made 27 saves for his 22nd win. The Chiefs are 33-19-2-5 (73 points), third in the U.S. Division.

• Spokane announced the signing of forward Reed Jacobson to a WHL Standard Player Agreement. The Chiefs’ sixth-round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft had 26 goals and 29 assists this season for the Swift Current Legionnaires.
