5.4-magnitude earthquake jolts West Java

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Sukabumi in West Java on Tuesday afternoon, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has reported.

The earthquake struck at 4:54 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located 113 kilometers southwest of the city at a depth of 10 km.

Apart from Sukabumi, the shock was also felt in several other locations in West Java and neighboring Banten, including in the provincial capital of Bandung, located 163 km from the quake epicenter.

The BMKG reported the earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

There were no reports of any injuries or damage at the time of writing.
