Trade ideas, not insults
First off, I’m grateful that the Spokesman-Review prints so many varied letters. Sometimes, however, it is so hard to not respond to letters you don’t agree with such as the last two on Jan. 6. I tried my best not to reply but it is hard to remain silent.
If we must use labels, I’m a conservative liberal. I listen to Sean Hannity and Dennis Prager because I’m trying to understand where they are coming from. They are so angry and divisive. They have several valid points but always seem to throw blame at the left, which detracts from their ideas.
I initially was appalled that KXLY radio would play Ben Shapiro. So I listened to his show. The man is benign like so many spouting angry rhetoric. He mostly whines about how poorly he’s treated for his politics. He does have some good ideas but they are hard to hear over his belittling of “the left.” None of these “conservatives” that I listen to on the radio offer solutions, just biting criticism.
Imagine if we could share our ideas with each other without the jabs, insults, accusations and anger. We might even accomplish something.
Aren’t you tired of this folks? I’m tired but I’m willing to try.
