Reader photo: Holy flight plan, Robin

A robin snagged a midwinter treat from photographer Joanie Christian’s home in late December.

Christian has an ornamental pear tree and the birds love the tree’s berries.

“The robin in this particular image sat on a branch, eying a cluster of berries on the branch above,” Christian said. “It would briefly fly up, suspend in midair, snag a berry, then land back on the lower branch to eat. It repeated this until the berries in that cluster were gone.”
