GSL boys: Tyson Degenhart nets 24 points and Mt. Spokane tops University

Mt. Spokane 74, University 48: Tyson Degenhart scored 24 points with eight rebounds, Jerry Twenge added 22 points and the visiting 3A No. 2-ranked Wildcats (17-1, 9-1) topped the 4A No. 16-ranked Titans (11-7, 6-6) in a Greater Spokane League matchup Friday.

Degenhart picked up the majority of his points from the low post.

“That’s really my game,” he said. “I try to get a lot of points down low and and try to space the floor.”

The Wildcats led by four after the first quarter and Degenhart went off in the second, scoring 10 points. He had 14 at intermission and Mt. Spokane led 39-20, limiting U-Hi to five points in the quarter.

Degenhart added eight points in the third and Twenge made four 3-pointers in the fourth.

Gonzaga Prep 69, Mead 52: Anton Watson scored 19 points and the visiting No. 2-ranked Bullpups (16-2, 12-0) defeated the Panthers (3-15, 2-10). Zach Paukert added 10 points for G-Prep and Jonathan Baird led Mead with 13 points.

Ferris 60, Rogers 42: Cole Omlin scored 19 points, Kellen Erickson added 13 and the visiting No. 8-ranked Saxons (13-5, 8-4) handled the Pirates (4-15, 1-9). Cody Downey led Rogers with 14 points.

Central Valley 49, North Central 41: Kyle Clay and Jayce Simmons scored 11 points apiece and the visiting Bears (11-7, 7-5) beat the Indians (8-10, 4-6). Leon Sayers led NC with 17 points.

Lewis and Clark 83, Shadle Park 79: Griffin Effenberger scored 30 points and the visiting Tigers (7-11, 4-9) outlasted the Highlanders (10-8, 3-7). Ben Merritt added 18 points for LC. Taivon Rainwater paced Shadle Park with 29 points and Denham Kehr added 15.
