SFCC student reports she was raped on campus

A female student reported she was raped in a restroom at Spokane Falls Community College, according to an email sent Wednesday to students and employees.

The student told Spokane police she was raped by a male student, whom she knows, at about noon Monday in a first-floor restroom in the school’s gymnasium building, according to the email.

The email said “all parties have been identified” and the incident remains under investigation. It said the female student reported the incident to police shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, and SFCC’s security office learned about it Wednesday.

This is the second alleged sex crime at a local college to surface in less than a week. On Friday, Gonzaga University said officials were investigating a report of a sexual assault in a campus residence hall stemming from an incident on Jan. 19 or Jan. 20.
