Rogue tire on Interstate 90 hits semi truck, spills gas on roadway

A rogue tire that spun off a car struck a semi truck, spilling gasoline onto Interstate 90 near Mullan Trail Road in Idaho on Friday morning.

Idaho State Police responded to the scene around 9 a.m., after a 1990 Ford Bronco driven by a man from Florida going east on the highway lost a tire, according to a news release from Idaho State Police.

The tire hit a diesel tank of a 2015 Volvo Tractor Trailer traveling west, causing diesel fuel to spill across the westbound lanes.

A hazardous materials crew responded and took 11 hours to clean up the spill. The road was blocked for about 2 hours.

No one was injured, and the investigation is ongoing.
