Forbes magazine ranks Horizon Credit Union as third best credit union in the state

Forbes magazine has named Horizon Credit Union as one of the top five credit unions in Washington.

The Spokane Valley-based credit union is ranked third on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Credit Unions in Washington, trailing Tumwater-based O Bee Credit Union and Richland-based HAPO Community Credit Union.

Tukwila-based BECU, which has operations in Spokane, also was among the top five credit unions in the state.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to compile the list of best credit unions in each state.

More than 25,000 customers in the U.S. were surveyed about their current and former financial institutions for Forbes’ annual list. Credit unions were scored on overall recommendations and satisfaction as well as trust, terms and conditions, branch and digital services, and financial advice.

Horizon Credit Union was founded in 1948 as a financial institution for aluminum workers. It has since expanded to more than 224 employees and $1 billion in assets. The credit union serves more than 70,000 members and has 20 branches in Washington, Idaho and Montana.
