Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura one of five finalists for Erving Award

It’s award season and Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura is in the running for several honors.

Hachimura, named WCC Player of the Year on Tuesday, is one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Award for the top small forward of the year.

Hachimura is joined on the list by Nevada’s Caleb Martin, Iowa State’s Marial Shayok, Tennessee’s Admiral Schofield and Virginia’s De’Andre Hunter.

Hachimura, who led Gonzaga at 20.6 points per game, scored in double figures in all 31 regular-season games.

The last two Erving Award winners were Villanova’s Mikal Bridges (2018) and Josh Hart (2017).

The Erving Award will be presented during the College Basketball Awards show April 12 in Los Angeles. Fans are encouraged to visit www.HoophallAwards.com to cast their votes March 8-29.
