Leave DST as it is

There has been real enthusiasm to adopt year-round daylight saving time. The March 10 Spokesman-Review has an excellent graphic showing the time of day we will experience light and dark hours.

I recall back in 1973, an oil embargo set off an energy crisis. Our government responded by putting the nation on daylight saving time at the beginning of 1974. Not everyone agreed that this was a good plan, especially parents who saw their kids head for school in darkness. I recall that the number of accidents getting students to school went up. In the dead of winter, students will be in their seats at school with the sun still not up.

Wikipedia states: “The extension of daylight saving time was not continued due to public opposition to late sunrise times during the winter months.” Leave it the way it is. That one-hour change twice a year doesn’t bother me one bit.
