Anglers reel in derby trout during opening weekend

Washington anglers caught 142 derby trout last weekend during the opening days of the lowland lake season. In total 1,018 tagged trout were stocked across the state.

The tagged fish are part of the Washington trout derby. More than 100 lakes throughout the state have been stocked with tagged trout. If you catch a tagged trout, call the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (360-902-2464) to claim the prize.

Prizes are from 130 participating businesses and range in value from $25 to $1,000.
