Prep softball: Central Valley, Lewis and Clark advance at District 8 tournament

District 8 first round

Central Valley 14, Walla Walla 4: Haley Lance drove in four runs with two hits and the Bears (14-3) downed the visiting Blue Devils (6-15) in a District 8 4A first-round gamey. Suheyla Tanak added two hits and scored four runs for Central Valley. Central Valley hosts Lewis and Clark in a semifinal on Friday..

Lewis and Clark 1, Chiawana 0: Kylie Pester pitched a three-hit complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts and went 1 for 3 with an RBI and the Tigers (9-7) beat the Riverhawks (12-7) in a first-round game.

Hanford 2, University 0: Annie Polster threw a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts and the visiting Falcons (12-9) beat the Titans (13-5) in a first-round game. University hosts Mead in a loser-out game on Friday.

Richland 10, Mead 0: Kaylie Northrop pitched a five-inning complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts and the Bombers (20-0) beat the Panthers (7-11) in a first-round game at Columbia Playfields in Richland.

Great Northern

East Valley 15, Clarkston 4: Abby Brake went 4 for 5 with two home runs and six RBIs and pitched a complete game to help the visiting Knights (2-5) down the Bantams (1-6) in the first game of a doubleheader. Emma Todhunter and Riley Weger also homered for East Valley.

East Valley 19, Clarkston 4: Addie Meyer hit a three-run home run and had four RBIs on the day and the Knights (3-5) swept the Bantams (1-7). Emma Glore went 4 for 4 with four RBIs and Hailey McCarthy went 3 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs.

West Valley 11, Pullman 1: Maddie Thompson had two hits, including a third-inning grand slam, and drove in five runs to lead the Eagles (12-0) past the visiting Greyhounds (2-10). Rilee Homer took over a bases-loaded, no-outs jam and struck out the side to close out the game and complete West Valley’s undefeated league season.

Deer Park 7, Cheney 4: Jaylee Lane was 3 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs and the visiting Stags (13-5) beat the Blackhawks (8-10) in a nonleague game.

Northeast A

Colville 15, Newport 0: Ambrie Jones pitched a complete-game one-hit shut-out and the Indians (8-4) defeated the visiting Grizzlies (1-11).

Freeman 13, Medical Lake 6: Bradee Parisotto went 3 for 5 with two home runs and five RBIS and the Scotties (7-5) beat the Cardinals (4-8). Hannah Brock went 3 for 3 with a homer and McKenna Cottrell went 3 for 5 with three RBIs for Freeman. Abby Amend struck out nine over four relief innings for the Scotties.

Lakeside 23, Riverside 1: Mariah Nortz had three hits, three runs scored and four RBIs to lead the visiting Eagles (11-1) past the Rams (1-11). Mamico Patterson added three hits and three RBIs while Jade Christianson scored four runs and drove in three for Lakeside.

Northeast 2B

Chewelah 8, Kettle Falls 1: Abby Fuller scattered five hits, striking out five, and the Cougars (7-2) defeated the visiting Bulldogs (4-5) on Tuesday. Jocelyn Glover had four hits for Kettle Falls.

Idaho

Lake City 10, Coeur d’Alene 1: Olivia Zufelt hit a three-run home run and the Timberwolves (25-0) beat the Vikings (9-8) in the 5A District 1-2 championship game. Coeur d’Alene hosts Post Falls on Thursday in loser-out game.

Post Falls 10, Lewiston 4: Bubba Gleaves had the go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning and added a three-run home run in the seventh and the Trojans (11-11) eliminated the Bengals (9-10) in a loser-out.

Coeur d’Alene 11, Lewiston 1: Natalie Sell fired a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and the Vikings (9-7) beat the Bengals (9-9) at Ramsey Field in a first-round game. Alexis Blankenship went 3 for 5 with four RBIs for CdA, which advanced to the district title game.

Lake City 8, Post Falls 5: Ashley Kaufman went 3 for 3 with a triple, a home run and four RBIs, Emma Gray hit a solo homer, and the Timberwolves (24-0) beat the visiting Trojans (10-11) a first-round game. Kaufman struck out nine over 6 1/3 innings.

Lakeland 19, Sandpoint 9: Allison Russum had a double, a triple and five RBIs and the Hawks (9-15) beat the visiting Bulldogs (3-16) in a 4A District 1-2 semifinal. Lakeland plays in the district title game on Saturday while Sandpoint plays Moscow in a loser-out game on Thursday.

Sandpoint 18, Moscow 8: The Bulldogs (3-15) beat the Bears (7-11) in a 4A District 1-2 first round game at Lakeland HS.

Timberlake 20, Bonners Ferry 5: Kyndal Lindley went 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, Ashlyn Mallet went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, and the Tigers (16-1) beat the Badgers (0-13) in the first round of the 3A District 1 tournament. Timberlake advances to the title game against Priest River on Thursday while Bonners Ferry faces Kellogg in a loser-out.

Priest River 14, Kellogg 5: Tawny Nichols had four hits with three RBIs to lead the Spartans (11-8) past the visiting Wildcats (5-10) in a 3A District 1 first round game at Timberlake HS.
