Prep baseball: Brock Sween pitches Lake City over Coeur d’Alene in district loser-out game

Lake City 5, Coeur d’Alene 1: Brock Sween tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts and the visiting Timberwolves (9-12) eliminated the top-seeded Vikings (20-3) in a 5A District 1-2 loser-out on Tuesday.

Lake City faces a state play-in game against either Timberline or Capital at Lewiston on Saturday.

Marcus Manzardo, Payton Childers, Bridger Rinaldi and Riley Smith each had two hits, an RBI and a run for the Timberwolves.

Timberlake 10, Bonners Ferry 0: Jack McDonald struck out eight in a one-hit shutout and the top-seeded Tigers (16-8) beat the visiting second-seeded Badgers (9-9) in the 3A District 1 championship.

Bonners Ferry faces Priest River in the district second-place game on Friday for a berth to state.

Priest River 12, Kellogg 2: Konnor Johnson allowed one earned run and struck out five in a complete game and the third-seeded Spartans (5-13) beat the visiting fourth-seeded Wildcats (1-15) in a 3A District 1 loser-out at Timberlake HS.

Coby Rogers went 2 for 3 with three runs for Priest River.
