Prep softball: Emma Todhunter homers and East Valley top Pullman in first-round matchup

District 7 2A

East Valley 8, Pullman 4: Emma Todhunter went 2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs and the Knights (9-8) eliminated the visiting Greyhounds (3-17) in a first-round game. East Valley advanced to the district semifinal against Cheney on Tuesday at Smith Field. Maddie Camyn went 3 for 4 with three runs while Abby Brake and Addie Meyer drove in a pair of runs apiece.

District 7 1A

Deer Park 6, Lakeside 4: Jaylee Lane went 2 for 4 and pitched a complete game to help the Stags (15-7) beat the Eagles (15-5) in the district championship game at Lakeside HS. Deer Park won the district title for the third straight year and both teams qualified for state.

Colville 9, Freeman 4: Emma Cochran went 3 for 4 with two runs and the Indians (14-6) beat the Scotties (14-7) in the third-place game. Both teams advance to District 6/7 crossovers on May 18.

Deer Park 6, Colville 5: Jaylee Lane went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and the Stags (14-7) beat the Indians (13-6) in a semifinal earlier in the day.

Lakeside 5, Freeman 4: Olivia Charbonneau’s walkoff single plated Aggie Bennett and the Eagles (15-4) beat the Scotties (14-5) in a semifinal earlier in the day. Charbonneau finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Idaho

Coeur d’Alene 7, Meridian 6: The Vikings (11-8) beat the Warriors (20-9) in a 5A state play-in game at Mountain View HS. CdA faces Highland on Friday at 9 a.m. at Post Falls HS in a first-round matchup.

Lakeland 15, Sandpoint 5: The Hawks (10-15) beat the Bulldogs (4-17) in the 4A District 1-2 championship. Lakeland faces Pocatello in the first round of state at 11 a.m. on Friday at Coeur d’Alene HS.

Melba 11, St. Maries 1: Andrina Webster went 2 for 2 with four RBIs and the Mustangs (21-3) beat the Lumberjacks (10-9) in an Idaho 2A state play-in game at Grangeville HS.
