Idaho state baseball: Lakeland falls in semifinal, to play for third place

Bonneville 5, Lakeland 1: Randon Hostert went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and the Bees (23-6) beat the visiting Hawks (12-12-2) in an Idaho 4A State semifinal at Vallivue HS in Caldwell on Friday. Lakeland will play in the third-place game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Timberlake 17, Homedale 4: Jack McDonald went 3 for 3 with three runs and the Tigers (17-9-1) beat the visiting Trojans (16-11) in an Idaho 3A State consolation game at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls. Timberlake faces Weiser in the consolation final on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Weiser 10, Priest River 0: Brody VonBrethorst went 3 for 4 with a home run, triple and three RBIs and the Wolverines (13-13) eliminated the Spartans (6-15) in a 3A consolation-round game at Melaleuca Field. Willy Shirts struck out eight in a five-hitter for Weiser.
