Two hospitalized after crash in Pend Oreille County

A 56-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were hospitalized Tuesday morning after the teen failed to yield at a highway intersection near the town of Cusick in Pend Oreille County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Carol J. O’Leary, of Cusick, was driving east on McKenzie/Beeman Road in her Dodge Ram pickup truck. As she crossed state Highway 20 shortly before 8 a.m., her vehicle was struck by a southbound Toyota Tundra pickup driven by Anthony J. Seymour, of Inchelium, according to the WSP.

The WSP said drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

Seymour was taken by ambulance to Newport Hospital and cited for failing to yield at the intersection.

O’Leary was taken by helicopter to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. A hospital spokesperson said she was discharged on Tuesday.
