Educate students on vaping
The article that I am responding to (“Two vaping-related severe lung disease cases confirmed in Spokane County,” Sept. 16) shows a link between vaping and severe lung disease. At this point, there have only been four cases of severe lung disease, vaping just recently became very popular. While only two cases have a concrete connection to vaping, the other two are highly suspect of being linked to vaping. Because of what issues vaping causes, I believe that schools should crack down more on drug use in school.
As a high school student, I have seen a few vape clouds floating at the top of the bathroom. The school should be able to perform searches on students and their property that they believe are vaping, or have received several tips saying that someone is vaping.
Many students simply do not understand the dangers of vaping, and what it could do.
I have been in middle and high school for three years now, and have not once heard an announcement, or even a poster about the dangers of vaping. I have seen such posters for more mainstream forms of drug abuse, such as marijuana. The students likely don’t know the dangers of vaping, and schools should be educating students on the dangers of vaping.
