Gonzaga postpones graduation ceremonies to September due to COVID-19 pandemic

Gonzaga University announced Friday it is postponing graduation ceremonies normally held at the beginning of May during Mother’s Day weekend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ceremonies for undergraduate, graduate and law students will instead be held Sept. 5-6, which is Labor Day weekend.

The university had sent out a survey to students giving them a number of options to choose from but a majority opted for postponed in-person ceremonies.

“This date, of course, is contingent upon approval and acceptability of such events by the state and local health authorities,” the university said in an email to students.
